## Simulation and evaluation

Our AI counterparts model emotion, trust, and behavior as a conversation unfolds. Learners can explore how their words affect the interaction.

Our engine represents emotional state, intensity, and change. Drawing on Plutchik's framework, it gives mood and momentary emotion different timescales.
Personal, procedural, and tactical trust represent different parts of an interaction. A character's willingness to disclose can change as a conversation develops.
A persona's context, emotional state, and prior interactions shape its behavior. Simulated state informs what a character reveals and how it speaks.

We are exploring behavioral consistency, alignment with expert judgment, and transfer to professional practice. Empirical validation remains work to establish.

## Our approach

EmpatiQ's practice counterparts are AI simulations. Courses may use scripted or responsive conversations, with voice or text depending on the exercise.
Review follows the course: written reflection, instructor feedback, or an AI debrief. Private practice has its own AI assessment. Professional judgment remains essential to interpreting any feedback.
Our research models simulated behavior. It does not claim to determine a real person's hidden emotional state.
